Pestalozzi's long life of 1746-1827 included the big break years of European history. At the same time open to the demands of the French Revolution and disappointed by their excesses, he reflected in his writings the political and social upheavals of the time. Pestalozzi has published long beside his changing practical activity all his life. Writings on philosophy, politics, education novels, educational writings, texts for the teaching method advocated by him and autobiographical texts. All these texts, about 300 plants and more than 6,000 received letters are created in close interaction to his eventful life and often can only be understood in this connection of life and writing.
