Geraldine Sue Page was an American film, television and stage actress. An eight-time Academy Award nominee, she was nominated for Hondo, Summer and Smoke, Sweet Bird of Youth, You're a Big Boy Now, Pete 'n' Tillie, Interiors and The Pope of Greenwich Village, before winning the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance as Carrie Watts in The Trip to Bountiful. Page made her Broadway debut in 1953 and went on to receive Tony Award nominations for Sweet Bird of Youth, Absurd Person Singular, Agnes of God and Blithe Spirit. She won Golden Globe Awards for Summer and Smoke and Sweet Bird of Youth; Emmy Awards for A Christmas Memory and The Thanksgiving Visitor, both written by Truman Capote, and the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Interiors. She was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame in 1983.
