Friedrich Dürrenmatt was born the son of the Protestant minister Reinhold Dürrenmatt and his wife Hulda. he made in 1941 in Bern, where the parents went with him, and his three years younger sister 1935 The High School. He studied literature, philosophy and the natural sciences in Bern and Zurich. On October 11, 1946 Friedrich Dürrenmatt married the actress Lotti Geissler. Six years later, they moved with their son Peter and his daughters Barbara and Ruth to Neuchâtel. Initially undecided whether he should rather be a painter or a writer, Friedrich Dürrenmatt tried writing and financed his livelihood in the early years as a theater critic and contract work, occasionally also as a draftsman and printmaker. In 1945 he published his first story in a Bernese daily newspaper "Der Alte", and on April 19, 1947 his first play was "It is written" premiered. World famous Friedrich Dürrenmatt was the pieces "The Visit of the Old Lady" (1956) and "The Physicists" (1962).
